Cocktails: 4:30pm
Ceremony: 5pm
Dinner and Drinks to follow
Meal
Guapos is one of Jesse and Annette’s favorite Mexican restaurants, so of course we were ecstatic when we found out they would cater our wedding. It’s our way of supporting a local business that we love. There will be chips and salsa, guacamole and queso dip starting at 4:30pm, followed by a build your own taco bar and rotisserie chicken served as a buffet for dinner by 6:30pm. For anyone who has dietary needs, you’re in good company with Annette. Don’t hesitate to share any needs you have by sending us an email: annetteandjesse@bestweddingever.net
Note that we may not be able to honor dietary requests after May 10th. So please be sure to provide prior to then.
We will also have beer, wine, sangria and margaritas – both frozen and on the rocks. Because what’s Mexican food without some solid margaritas?
Suggested Attire
We’re skipping most traditions in exchange for celebrating with family, friends, great food, drinks, and dancing—wear something you can enjoy the night in.
Dressy but relaxed—cocktail dresses or suits (ties optional). The ceremony and reception will be outdoors on a rooftop, so we recommend comfortable shoes and a light layer for the evening.
Average temperatures for DC in May are 54-75 degrees.

Hotels
For those who wish to stay close to the wedding venue, here are a few hotels to consider:
- Phoenix Park Hotel (classic, historic vibe; right by Union Station)
- Kimpton George Hotel (IHG) (boutique, stylish, very close to Union Station)
- Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill (bigger full-service hotel; pool/amenities)
- YOTEL Washington DC (modern, value-leaning, good for a simple stay)
When Jesse first moved to DC, he lived in the Navy Yard. It’s about a mile away from the venue for those who might want to stay near the Nats Stadium and experience a different part of the city with excellent riverfront views. The Nats are playing the San Diego Padres during the weekend of our wedding for anyone who loves baseball.
Here are a few hotels to consider in the Navy Yard:
- Hampton Inn & Suites Washington DC-Navy Yard (casual, comfortable hotel by Nats Park and the waterfront)
- Residence Inn by Marriott Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard (An extended-stay-style hotel with full kitchens and free breakfast)
- AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard (stands out for its rooftop bar, Smoke & Mirrors, and proximity to the Navy Yard nightlife)
AirBnb
We also recommend looking into Airbnb for your stay. There are wonderful row houses you can rent in the area. To find options, we suggest using these addresses:
- Capitol View 400 (venue of the wedding)
- 1007 E Street SE (this will help you find places near the Eastern Market area
Feel free to call us with any questions as you’re booking your stay. Most places on capitol hill are safe, but there are some streets you may want to avoid booking an Airbnb if you plan to walk at night.

Share photos and Send Messages
Growing up, you could always find Annette making scrapbooks and photo albums. Capturing memories is still one of her favorite things to do, and she’s easily influenced Jesse into loving it as well. We would love for you to join in on the fun with us!
Send us your old photos or even some of your favorite more recent photos that we can share during the ceremony by clicking here.
And for those of you who really want to join in on the fun – you can even send us a video message by clicking here. We’ll cherish these videos and photos for years to come and in particular as we celebrate our anniversary each year.
Registry
Your presence at our wedding means so much to us and is all the gift we need.
However, for those who wish to honor us with a gift, we would be grateful for contributions toward our honeymoon. We’re heading to Naples and Ischia in Italy. Both of us love beaches and visiting European cities so we had a hard time deciding where we wanted to go. That’s when we landed on Ischia.. the perfect blend of our favorite things. You can learn more about Ischia here.. and we’ll be sure to tell you all about it when we return!
Our Story
Our first date was in a torrential downpour in DC… the kind of night where cancelling on the date made far more sense than going. Annette’s clothes were soaked by the time she got to the restaurant and she stayed cold and wet the entire time. But somehow even in the horrendous weather, the night was fun and easy and something just felt right. The following week, they were each telling friends they met someone they really liked.. and they meant it this time. And because Annette liked him, Jesse never made it into her secret dating blog, which was never used again.
